I don't get why people seem to have so much trouble with my name. Seriously. "Bridie? I was reading it as Birdie. I thought it was a little strange, but now I just have you in my mind as Birdie. Would you mind if I called you that instead?" Actually, I would mind, seeing as my name is Bridie. Your eyesight shouldn't be my problem.
And if not that, then I tend get something more along the lines of, "Bridie? My, that's quite unusual. You don't hear that name much these days." Except for the part where I hear it every day, so it's not that unusual for me.
It's not that I have a problem with my name at all- I like that it's a bit different! I just don't get the comments that some people choose to make. But enough name-ranting though! What I really want to do is pick the brains of you good people of Charlotte, particularly those who are musically inclined.
Does anyone know of any open-mic type things happening in the near future? I've decided I want to get back to playing some music for other people, so I've been brushing up on my skills and tidying up a few of my songs. So does anyone know of anything like that happening? Preferably somewhere with a crowd that'll be pretty friendly toward someone who hasn't 'performed' as such for a while, but I'm really not picky. |
